Thank you for volunteering to write for one of my chosen sources, I hope you love it/them as much as I do. I'm really looking forward to whatever you come up with: my main concern is that you have a blast with your writing. To that end, if you already have an idea for what you want to write, that's awesome! Go forth and write and I shall see you in December!

If on the other hand you're stuck for ideas or you want to know what I'm into or you're checking whether your proposed tentacle-rape orgy!fic will trigger me horribly, read on for more information.

I enjoy slash, femslash, het and gen in any rating from G to NC-17. I have no issues with common triggers but I would ask that you warn for the major triggers or use the 'author chooses not to warn' tag as a matter of courtesy to other readers.

Here are a few of my favourite story elements in general! Missing scenes, character exploration, minor character background, world-building, BDSM, fantasy cofession and exploration, power exchange, bondage, hurt/comfort, torture, tentacles (consenting and otherwise), non-con, enthusiastic consent, characters with wings, characters being competent, characters looking after each other, epistolary fic (or fic in unusual formats), slice-of-life stories, 5+1 stories, and unusual or outsider points-of-view.

Gentleman Bastard Sequence - Scott Lynch

I love Zamira Drakasha. I love her trial scene with Ezri, I love her relationship with her children, I love how she has her own story going on which has absolutely nothing to do with Locke and Jean. I love her competence, ruthlessness and all-round badassery. Absolutely anything with Drakasha would be awesome, her early life, her defection, her life after book two, her relationship with Ezri, romantic or otherwise. There's also excellent h/c potential with Locke and Jean at the end of either book one or book two. Book three still isn't out as I write this but I'm sure there'll be all sorts of ramifications to explore plus the introduction of Sabetha. You could also do epistolary fic between any of the Gentleman Bastards during their apprenticeship with Chains, since they spent a lot of time separately in various temples, and of course, pretty much every character in this series is ridiculously good at their occupation of choice.

Black Jewels - Anne Bishop

There are all sorts of interesting power dynamics in this series, what with Queens more-or-less owning the men in their courts and being owned by them in turn, not to mention the non-consensual aspect of many of the relationships depicted. Lucivar (and the other Eyriens) tend to be my favourite characters (they have wings!), given the potential for emotional and physical h/c for him and Marian. I'd also like to see more from the point of view of the kindred, since they are regarded as equal but we don't see as much of them in the books.

SCP Foundation

This one really lends itself to fic in unusual formats, as well as crossovers! Given the setting, power dynamics, experimentation, torture, hurt/comfort, unusual point of view (what is it like to be an SCP?) and transcript fic are all possibilities.

Star Wars: X-Wing series

N'aawwww my first and most formative fandom. I would honestly read these two talking about the price of cheese and be thrilled. Honestly, I'm trying to come up with ideas for you and getting very little. Sorry!

Chess - Board Game

Yes, this one is a little cracky. But it's a game about 'taking' the opposition! Imagine the humiliation of being taken, of being controlled like a puppet! The pride in being sacrificed to save the King you adore! Not to mention, just how do they restrain all those captured pieces anyway :D Or, if you don't want to go the kinky route, the wistful yearning when you've fallen in love with the hot knight on the other side of the board - do you fraternize with the enemy when you get put away in the box in the evening?

Aubrey-Maturin series, Patrick O'Brian

The ladies get really short shrift in this series, which is a shame. You could go with epistolary fic - letters from Sophie to Jack that do or don't get sent and/or possibly lost. Or scenes from what they get up to when Jack and Stephen aren't around, or Diana's point of view in the early books. And there's always Jack and Stephen and their friendship, or more than friendship if you want to go that route. They do spend a lot of time by each others bedsides if you want to do hurt/comfort, and again both are very competent in their respective spheres. You could also flip that on its head, of course, since they are also pretty useless outside their areas of expertise!

I hope you found at least some of that useful! Once again, thank you so much for writing for me, and I shall see you in December!

comments
